Derek Johnston, owner and operator of Casual Encounters Catering, is from Washington state. There, he attended Central Washington University, earning a degree in accounting and finance. During college, he worked for his grandfather as a property manager of 20 business properties.
After graduation, he relocated to Seattle and started working in the brokerage industry. Over the next six years, he worked for two of the largest wire houses on Wall Street, including Shearson Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch. He then worked for ten years as the vice president of the lending group for Key Bank’s Business Banking Group.
For the last decade, he’s been the owner and operator of Casual Encounters Catering. As a small business owner with three full-time and several part-time employees, he’s responsible for overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day operations.
